Will 2015 be the year Adam Lambert finds true love?
The American Idol season-eight runner-up playfully pondered that very question onstage in London on New Year’s Eve, performing at Big Ben Live and closing out a triumphant year fronting Queen with a sold-out show. The concert at Central Hall in Westminster led up to the city’s traditional fireworks celebration along the river Thames. Big Ben, of course, chimed at midnight.
Said Lambert from the stage: “Are you all feeling free tonight? Are you ready to count down this New Year? Holy, holy holy … I just hope that this year I finally find somebody to love.”
It was a sweet introduction to yet another dramatic performance of the Queen classic in a night that featured a hit-heavy set list — “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions,” “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “Radio Ga Ga,” “Under Pressure,” “The Show Must Go On,” and “Another One Bites The Dust” were among the crowd-pleasers. The concert was also streamed live on BBC Radio One.
Lambert later shared a photo of himself toasting the new year on Instagram, which also revealed what looks like a new tattoo.
Queen + Adam Lambert embark on a European tour beginning Jan. 13 in Newcastle.
Lambert will also be featured this month on American Idol when the show airs the New York auditions, where he served as a judge.
