A few weeks away from releasing their sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho, Fall Out Boy have unleashed a soaring new track titled “Irresistible.” Inspired by doomed lovers Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, the band’s latest is a booming, brass-backed anthem that crescendos as frontman Patrick Stump wails, “I love the way you hurt me.”

Describing the song on the band’s website, bassist Pete Wentz wrote, “When I think of ‘Irresistible,’ it brings this image to my head, whether it’s fictional or real, of Sid and Nancy in an alley, garbage raining down on them in an eternal spiral of romance and poison. Sometimes it [sic] hard not to love what can hurt us the most.”

Hear “Irresistible” above, and look out for American Beauty/American Psycho on January 20.
