Janelle has taken her talents to the house that L.A.’s building

Janelle Monae has announced that her label–Wondaland Records–is entering a joint partnership with Epic Records, and she isn’t wasting any time getting the music onto the airwaves. In a press release dated February 16, Epic announced the partnership, noting that that talent Monae’s label is collecting is “awe-inspiring,” a quote that came directly from Epic head L.A. Reid.

The collective talent of the Wondaland artists is awe-inspiring. I haven’t personally witnessed a collective that sounds and looks this special in quite a while. I’ve been a longtime supporter and friend of Janelle and it is an honor to now work with her as a visionary businesswoman who brings an all-star group of talented performers to the table.

As her first Wondaland/Epic act, Monae released Brooklyn upstart Jidenna‘s first music video, “Classic Man,” which features Roman Gianarthur, which is a fresh take on a DJ Mustard-esque bay area sound, that comes off with a unique vibe, thanks to Jidenna and Gianarthur’s traditional R&B roots. Watch the video above, and get ready for Wondaland to have a big 2015.
