Fashion Week started a day early this year with Cadillac’s New York Men’s Day, and VFiles’s MADE fashion show at Lincoln Center. And it seemed like everyone from designers to stylists were spilling tea on fashion, celebs, and more before the week even kicked off. Here’s what we learned pre Day 1.

On Timo Weiland’s New Collection and Kanye West:

Swagger: Kanye just announced he’ll simulcast his Adidas show in theaters across the country. Think opening up access to shows, like yours, is good for fashion?

Alan Eckstein, Designer: Listen, Kanye is a machine. He’s, like, a killer of culture. He killed hip-hop, and now he’s taking on fashion. Sure accessibility is important, and that’s why we’re doing this thing with Cadillac, but make no mistake, it’s not about accessibility for him. It’s about KANYE.

Swagger: Your new collection is the cleanest yet. What’s the inspiration for Fall/Winter 2015?

AE: When I designed this collection, I wasn’t thinking about some far off-land or far off-place. This is simply Americana with a focus on textures, both visual and to the hand. It’s clean and simple, and my favorite one yet. Think Beat Generation.

Swagger: What are men wearing on the streets that is soon-to-be out of vogue?

Jessy Heuvelink, Designer: The short silhouette. I’m really into long silhouettes, and pants that crumple at the ankle, and that’s where the trend will be going. I know I’m wearing tight fitted pants right now, but I wish I wasn’t!

Swagger: Collection is on fire. What’s up with all the silver?

JH: This one was inspired by the 60s, and space missions. That’s why all these guys have on silver boots and there’s a silver leather moto in the collection. It’s space meets rock and roll, with impeccable tailoring.
