Given an all-star guest list that includes Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Arcade Fire and Jack White, the Backstreet Boys were a surprise addition to the star-packed Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special. However, it turns out they might not be the only Nineties boy band that could make an appearance on SNL 40: ‘NSync has hinted that they will reunite for the epic SNL celebration.

The boy band’s official Twitter wrote this afternoon, “Together again… Gee, it’s good to be together again,” a nod to the quintet’s 1997 single. The tweet was hashtagged #SNL40, the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special that’s set to air Sunday night on NBC.

Justin Timberlake, a former ‘NSync member and one of SNL‘s best guest host “double-threats,” was among the initial wave of actors and musicians that joined the special. Timberlake last reunited with his “Bye Bye Bye” mates when he was given the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Earlier this week, Timberlake posted a photo on Instagram of an SNL 40 writing session where he promised “Jimmy Fallon is onto something funny… We think.” After getting the Saved By the Bell cast back together, perhaps an ‘NSync reunion is now part of The Tonight Show host’s plans.

More evidence that an ‘NSync reunion could be happening (weather permitting): Chris Kirkpatrick tweeted that his “early flight to NYC” today was canceled. Hopefully Kirkpatrick can hop another plane before the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special airs Sunday night at 8 p.m. EST.
