With Facebook virtually eliminating organic reach, musicians have struggled to reach their fans through Pages. As a bit of a peace offering, Facebook has rolled out an events subscription feature that notifies fans when their favorite bands are playing nearby.

No matter how much you love your favorite bands, you may not want your newsfeed covered with photos from shows too far away for you to go to, and lets face it, unless that band is paying to boost their posts, you’re probably not going to see them anyway. But, what you can do, is subscribe to that band’s event feed on their page and never miss another nearby event again.

Fans can click to subscribe under the “events” tab of any band’s Facebook page. Note: Some bands may not have events viewable by default, in which case the events tab can be located under the “more” tab on the page’s toolbar.

Once you’re subscribed, you’ll be prompted to subscribe to additional bands you already follow, or events happening near you. If you want to stay in the know with your local music scene, perusing Facebook’s suggestions isn’t a bad idea.

Adding the Events subscribe button ups the odds of bands capturing the attention of their Facebook audience and could certainly help boost sales locally from show to show. It also gives artists more cause to stay up to date on adding and updating event pages, engaging fans leading up to their show.

In an industry where live shows are becoming an increasingly important source of income for artists, every little bit helps. [Hypebot]
