— Sony/ATV Music Publishing UK have signed British duo Krept and Konan to a worldwide deal. On July 6, the duo will issue in the U.K., their debut album, The Long Way Home, which includes appearances by Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa, Emeli Sande, Rick Ross and Jeremih, according to Sony/ATV.
“The Long Way Home is a who’s who of the hottest artists in today’s UK and US urban crossover world,” Sony/ATV VP international/director of UK A&R Janice Brock said in a statement. “They’ve gained the respect of their contemporaries in the industry in a very short time.”
Krept and Konan’s manager Vash Khatiri said in a statement that the duo are looking to a fruitful partnership with Sony/ATV which shares “our vision of what Krept and Konan can achieve with their music.”
— In another worldwide deal, Sony/ATV have signed Walk The Moon in an agreement that includes the group’s catalog as well as future songs and current hit single, “Shut Up and Dance.”
Sony/ATV U.S. co-president Rick Krim said in a statement, “Walk the Moon have been on my radar since their first record when I was at VH1 and we made them a You Oughta Know artist, so it’s great to see them having this success.”
Round Hill Music has signed songwriter/artist Bruce Wooley to an administration deal in an agreement that includes his co-written hit song, “Video Killed The Radio Star.”
In another deal, Round Hill Music has entered into a co-publishing deal with Motopony, which will issue their latest album, Welcome You, on June 23. “With ‘Welcome You,’ this talented group of songwriters and musicians has created an album that is set to take them to the next level,” Round Hill Music senior direct of creative Mallory Zumbach said. “As anyone who has recently seen one of their enthralling live shows can attest, these new songs are truly fantastic.”
— Kobalt Music Publishing have signed a deal to represent Christian Tattersfield‘s independent publishing company, Good Soldier Songs, in a worldwide administration deal, except fore France, Australia and New Zealand.
The deal includes songs by Biffy Clyro, the Wombats and the Coasts. Tattersfeld, formerly CEO at Warner Music U.K. started Good Soldier Songs in 2003. “We are delighted to be working with Christian,” Kobalt Music Group president of global creative Sas Metcalfe said. “He has a fantastic reputation in the industry with a real eye for spotting talent, so it’s very exciting to be working with the roster at Good Soldier Songs.” [Billboard]
