Mac producers, rejoice! If you’re an FL Studio user and have converted from Windows to Mac some in the past decade, you will understand the frustrations and inconvenience that came along with running Boot Camp or an equivalent software just to get your FL Studio to be compatible with OS X. Most have eventually given up and resorted to using other DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton, Reason and others. While these alternatives might be more “professional” and powerful than Fruity Loops, you simply can’t deny the convenient workflow and ease of use this Image Line software offers. Hence, regardless of perpetual criticism by certain “production purists,” the workstation has remained a favorite for many.

The good news is that Image Line has finally released an Alpha version of FL Studio 12. A spokesperson for FL Studio shares that “it is not a Windows application in disguise,” however, there’s still a few bugs that need to be fixed. As of now, there’s no support for VST/AU plugins outside of FL’s stock plugins, and MIDI input/output also isn’t available yet.
