A family dispute over the estate of guitarist Jimi Hendrix has been settled.
The Seattle Times reports that the July settlement between Hendrix’s adopted sister, Janie Hendrix, and his brother, Leon Hendrix, was announced this week.
Experience Hendrix LLC owns the rights to the Hendrix estate and is controlled by Janie Hendrix. It settled out of court with HendrixLicensing.com, which is operated by Leon Hendrix. The settlement was for damages associated with the sale of merchandise that capitalized on Hendrix’s fame.
The amount of the settlement was not disclosed.
Leon Hendrix has been fighting his sister in court since Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 without a will. When Jimi Hendrix’s father, James “Al” Hendrix, died in 2002, he left the estimated $80?million estate to Janie Hendrix.
