Manager Guy Oseary, who represents Madonna and U2, added comedian Amy Schumer to his Maverick Management roster, Billboard has confirmed.
The news comes as Schumer’s meteoric 2015 continues. This past weekend, she debuted a new HBO special Live at the Apollo, and on Oct. 10 she hosted Saturday Night Live. Earlier in the year, she won an Emmy for her Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer and saw a summer box office hit with Trainwreck, which she wrote and starred in.
Oseary’s star has similarly risen as his Maverick company partnered with eight other prominent music managers under the aegis of Live Nation’s artist management arm. The group includes Ron Laffitte of Laffitte Management, I Am Other’s Caron Veazey, Blueprint Group’s Gee Roberson and Cortez Bryant, Reign Deer’s Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber, Quest Management’s Scott Rodger and Spalding Entertainment’s Clarence Spalding.
A year earlier, in November 2013, Oseary merged with Paul McGuinness‘ Principle Management in a $30 million deal with Live Nation that saw the Israeli-born Oseary take over the reins of managing U2.
Schumer was previously represented by the firm Mosaic and managed by principal Jimmy Miller, a veteran of the comedy scene whose clients include Judd Apatow and Will Ferrell. She left the firm in July, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Schumer’s recent appearances with Oseary’s longtime client Madonna were clues to the new arrangement, which Schumer’s rep confirms. Schumer opened Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour with a September stop at Madison Square Garden. During that show, Madge appeared onstage pretending to spank, kick and mount Schumer. More recently, at an Oct. 14 Vancouver show, Schumer was photographed in the front row with Madonna’s ex-husband Sean Penn while the 57-year-old singer made reference to doing shots beforehand with the comedienne.
