The follow-up to Phoenix’s best-selling 2009 album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” is due out in April 2013.

Daniel Glass, head of the group’s label Glassnote Records, announced the expected release date at a Spotify event on Thursday (Dec. 6), according to Rolling Stone. Glass reportedly mentioned that Phoenix had just finished recording the album in a Paris studio.

The French rock quartet was originally eyeing a late summer 2012 release for the “Wolfgang” follow-up, with a fall tour to follow. “It’s very hard to beat ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,’ but this could be revolutionary,” Glass said of the new material early this year. Although the release timeframe was delayed, Glassnote enjoyed a huge hit in 2012 with Mumford & Sons’ “Babel,” which debuted with 600,000 copies sold in one week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Released in 2009, “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” won the Grammy for best alternative music album, and spawned the hits “Lisztomania” and “1901.”
