Miley Cyrus is calling on a couple odd collaborators for what she calls her “biggest album” yet. The former Disney star has enlisted Tyler, the Creator for anew song she penned with Mary J. Blige.
“I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler, the Creator heard it and said, ‘I am obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album.’ And he killed it!” the 20-year-old singer toldCosmopolitan (via MTV News).
Miley recently shared photos of herself in the studio with Tyler and Pharrell. “Shes soooo fucking awesome,” said the Odd Future leader of the pop superstar.
But she insists that the album is not a hip-hop record. “I really didn’t want to make a hip-hop record, and I’m not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki [Minaj]….That’s not my vibe,” she said.
Instead, it will be a mix of the music she grew up listening to. “When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had melistening to Dolly [Parton] and Johnny [Cash], and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that.”
She also praised Tyler’s bandmate Frank Ocean and his Grammy-nominatedalbum channel ORANGE. “Frank Ocean’s record is so good,” said Miley. “And I like that he came out and admitted he was gay, because that still affects people’scareers. If you don’t think it does, it f**king does, and he did not care. I think it’s going to make him even bigger.” [RapUp]
