Robbie Mackey, former head of The Orchard’s interactive marketing department and alum of Mom+Pop’s digital department, has been named as Mom+Pop’s new head of marketing, it was announced today. The Brooklyn-based label is home to artists like Sleigh Bells, Polica, Metric, Andrew Bird, and more.
“Over the past few months we’ve been looking at the best way to structure our marketing endeavors as we look to grow,” wrote Mom+Pop label head Michael Goldstone in a statement. “It became obvious to us that Robbie was the most qualified to run it. We stand in a time where the line between marketing and online has shifted to be one in the same, and Robbie’s keen knowledge of both arenas makes him the perfect choice for this position.”
In addition to his own appointment, Mackey announced that Jazz Atkin of the London-based firm Ooh Brilliant, will be joining Mom+Pop as its new digital marketing manager.
“I’m very excited for the next chapter in my career, and thrilled by the opportunity to continue working with one of the strongest, most exciting rosters in independent music,” said Mackey, who described his ambition, and Mom+Pop’s future plans to “shape and reshape the marketing department here at Mom+Pop as we launch a new imprint, a long-overdue online shop, a Mom+Pop subscription service, and a lot more.”
Mackey was one of Billboard’s “30 Under 30” in 2011 for his work at The Orchard. [Billboard.biz]
