BROOKLYN BAND SIGNS WITH KIDINAKORNER/INTERSCOPE RECORDS
EP available HERE!!!
SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Brooklyn indie rockers X Ambassadors (formerly Ambassadors) have signed with Grammy-winning producer Alex Da Kid’s KIDinaKORNER label and will release their official debut EP Love Songs Drug Songs today, May 7th.
The six song EP was recorded at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles and features production by Alex Da Kid and Dan Stringer. Tracks on the EP include the groove based “Unconsolable,” piano-and-string driven “Litost” as well as “Stranger,” a song co-written with Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons. Love Songs Drug Songs EP was executive produced by Alex Da Kid and Dan Reynolds.
“Every so often a band comes along that disrupts the norm and lays the foundation for the musical landscape of the future,” says Alex Da Kid. “I believe that X Ambassadors are such a band and for that reason, they represent exactly what I set out to create through KIDinaKORNER. I am proud to work with them and welcome them to the KIDinaKORNER family.”
“I came across X Ambassadors a few months ago, and was instantly impressed,” says Dan Reynolds. “It was one of those rare moments where the music really grabbed me right away. It’s been exciting to collaborate with them.”
“When we first started, there was no real plan other than to make music that we could all be proud of,” says X Ambassador’s lead singer Sam Harris. “We wanted to write about things that really mattered to us; to make songs that could be sung in any different style and yet still sound authentic and true; to make music that had elements of all the different genres we’d come to know and love; and above all, we wanted to make something different. Alex and Dan share this vision with us and, with this EP, have helped us start to realize it.”
Growing up in small-town upstate New York, X Ambassadors frontman Sam Harris, his brother Casey, and childhood friend Noah Feldshuh bonded over their obsessive love for punk, rock & roll, soul, and hip-hop. Forming their first band in middle school, the three channeled their infatuation with artists as eclectic as The Stooges and The Staple Singers into a string of musical projects that sharply clashed with their local scene’s favoring of folk and country. After graduating high school and decamping to New York City, the Harris brothers and Noah joined up with L.A.-raised drummer Adam Levin–a move that helped X Ambassadors solidify their sound into a groove-fueled take on alt-pop.
X Ambassadors will open for Imagine Dragons on select dates with a headline date set for Los Angeles later this month. They have also been added to the lineup for the Austin City Limits Festival in October. Complete list of tour dates below:
