Cheap Trick is taking legal action over the 2011 Ottawa Bluesfest stage collapse that put their lives in jeopardy.  The band was just 20 minutes into their set at the Canadian festival when they were hit with a wind gust of more than 70-miles-per-hour, forcing them to flee the stage just seconds before it went down.

The “Ottawa Citizen” says the group details a list of 29 allegations in their lawsuit, including claims that the promoters prioritized profits over safety and didn’t provide accurate, up-to-date information on weather conditions.  Band members escaped injury in the incident, but one of their roadies was hurt in the collapse.

Cheap Trick is seeking $1 million in damages.  $400,000 covers the equipment the group lost in the collapse, and the other $600,000 compensates the group for expenses incured to replace their equipment and continue their tour.
