Rolling Stone‘s August 1 issue is covered by Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, which has obviously sparked outrage from many corners. But according to Hollywood Reporter and Gawker, Kanye West was supposed to grace the cover of the magazine.
Sources say that Rolling Stone earmarked the cover for Ye, who pulled out of the scheduled interview four weeks before the issue was set to hit newsstands. Apparently, the arrival of Kanye and Kim’s first child, North West, coupled with Ye making his newborn baby off-limits in the interview were the reasons for the rapper nixing the cover story.
Bruce Springsteen was reportedly the other back-up cover star, but Rolling Stone editor and publisher Jann Wenner made the call to run with Janet Reitman’s story on the Boston Bomber (which you can read here).
