“It’s not easy, it’s not easy. I keep finishing it and handing it in, finishing it and handing it in,” she said earlier this summer.

Matangi was due out late last year, but the singer said that the label wasn’t convinced by the project. M.I.A. released “Bring the Noize” earlier this summer, and is set to release a documentary that features appearances by Kanye West, Spike Jonze and Switch, but that project has also faced some problems. The film was pulled by Roc Nation in July, prompting director Steve Loveridge to quit the project after leaking the teaser trailer.
