The Rolling Stones want a German retailer to stop using the band’s logo. The UK’s “Sun” says group has filed a lawsuit against New Yorker Fashion, claiming the company is using the Stones’ iconic lips and tongue logo without permission.
A rep for the band explains that the group will “be fiercely protective” of all their properties, including their logo. The Stones are seeking $315,0000, and also want New Yorker Fashion to receive a $25,500 fine.
But New Yorker Fashion CEO Fritz Knapp says his company has done nothing wrong. He claims the Stones don’t have exclusive rights to a tongue image, and that the company’s creative department came up with the mouth design being used by the store. However, in light of the litigation, the store has been taking down the posters and removing clothing tags that feature the image in question.
