The role advertising plays in creating hit songs and the music of horror films will be explored on panels at the 2013 Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film and TV Music Conference being held Oct. 29 and 30 at the W Hotel in Hollywood.

Producer-songwriter Alex Da Kid will discuss his success with the band Imagine Dragons on the panel “Advertising: New Path to the Charts” with top executives from the publishing, advertising and licensing fields. Joining Alex Da Kid will be Sony Music VP, music for Brands and Advertising/Licensing, Jeannette Perez; Universal Music Publishing Group VP, Film/TV Music, Creative, Gary Miller; Ole senior director, Synchronization & Licensing Debra Delshad; and Goodby Silverstein music director Todd Porter. Grey senior VP/director of music Josh Rabinowitz will moderate.

As this year’s conference closes on Halloween Eve, it seemed fitting to engage the top composers working in horror today.

Marco Beltrami (“Carrie”), Bear McCreary (“The Walking Dead”), Steve Jablonsky (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”), Trevor Morris (“Dracula”) and Christopher Young (“Scary or Die”) will share their own horror stories and happy tales on “Halloween, Horror and Hollywood.”

Dedicated to all facets of music and its uses in television, film, advertising and the Internet, the Film and TV Music Conference brings together all aspects of the music industry. All branches of entertainment, including, recording artists, composers, executives, music supervisors, publishers, filmmakers, managers and others, unite to discuss the ever-changing entertainment landscape and the opportunities for content creators and copyright holders.

Speakers are a mix of the industry’s elite, up-and-coming entrepreneurs and the creative community. Aside from keynote speeches, case studies, panels and networking opportunities, the two-day event offers one-on-one sessions with publishers, song representatives and experts from throughout the film, TV and music industries. In addition, programming will again cover trends in the international marketplace and advertising.
