In a Facebook post written yesterday that has now been deleted – via Gigwise – the singer allegedly said that she would be sorting out the situation herself, after saying that her Stateside label Capitol wouldn’t have vinyl copies of the record available in time for the album’s release. ‘Night Time, My Time’ comes out in the US tomorrow (October 29).
She reportedly wrote: “I was just informed less than a few hours ago that vinyl won’t be made in time for the album release… Due to certain people at my label that aren’t capable of (interested in) doing what they’re supposed to do. I’m in the process of making it myself. Hold tight.”
Sky Ferreira recently defended the controversial artwork for ‘Night Time, My Time’. The image, which features the singer naked in the shower, was shot by Gasper Noè, who has previously directed films such as Enter the Void and Irréversible and recently worked on the video for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ ‘We No Who U R’.
In an interview with Stereogum, Ferreira defended the image and claimed it was not designed to help boost publicity and album sales. “I don’t really feel like my left nipple is all that important,” she says. “I don’t really have an issue with nudity. It’s not the first time I’ve shot topless either. I don’t really find anything wrong with being topless. My mom and I used to go tanning at the beach topless. So I don’t really look at it as a sexual thing.”
On the subject of the artwork being a publicity stunt, the singer added: “It’s like, are you kidding me? I’d sell way more if I just put a picture of my face. That’s the fact. I’d sell more copies of me just looking cute. That’s what sells more. That’s what sells at Wal-Mart. Not someone in a bathtub looking like they’re about to kill someone. Topless.”
