This is amazing! An unreleased 2002 interview that MTV conducted for their “You Heard It First” series featuring Kanye West has surfaced. This interview captured Kanye reminiscing about his journey as a producer, working with Jay-Z on “The Blueprint,” convincing Dame Dash that he could really rap and so much more, all before he even released his first album.
Being a Chicagoan and a huge Kanye fan, this interview brought me back to the first time I listened to “College Dropout.” The little gems, like Kanye constantly straightening his jacket so we could see the word “star” clearly or repeating answers guaranteeing he isn’t misquoted, are reasons why I love Yeezus.
