MUSO compiled its top ten most-pirated artists by monitoring site which respond to its own takedown requests. This list doesn’t include the likes of The Pirate Bay.
The Fab Four’s material was found to be uploaded via a whopping 187,687 online files through a mixture of cyberlocker, torrents and illegal streaming websites. Estimating an average of 1000 downloads per file, MUSO said this equates to nearly 190 million downloads per annum.
Other catalogue artists followed the Beatles with Fleetwood Mac (72984 uploaded files), Bob Marley (60024 uploaded files) and Led Zeppelin (59011 uploaded files) all in the Top Five.
Founded in 2008, MUSO now work with hundreds of key companies in the music industry, such as Beggars Group, Demon Music Group and Essential Music & Marketing, in helping them protect their releases and catalogue online.
The company’s dashboard system scans millions of pages across the internet, protecting and defending online content.
