De La Soul have been teasing their new mixtape, Smell the D.A.I.S.Y., all month, and now they’ve officially shared the project on BitTorrent. The release (featuring the previously released “Vocabulary Spills”) includes reworked rhymes alongside previously unheard beats from late production legend J Dilla. The mixtape also features the Dilla documentary Still Shining, Dilla wallpaper art and the audio track “Smell the D.A.I.S.Y. Letter.”

In February, group member Posdnuos praised Dilla’s unique production style in an interview with Rolling Stone“Dilla was the Tupac of producers,” said the rapper. “He has so many unreleased things that no one has heard. His family knows how vital and important an ingredient his music was to our work.” The trio traveled to Dilla’s hometown of Detroit to work on the trippy track.

The New York hip-hop trio have been in a charitable mood lately: On Valentine’s Day, the group, unable to sell their music through digital retailers because of their extensive (and occasionally unlicensed) samples, released their entire catalog as a free download on their website.

The rest of 2014 should be equally eventful: A new LP (You’re Welcome, their first since 2004’s The Grind Date) is expected to drop this summer, and a six-song EP, Preemium Soul on the Rocks (which features three beats each from DJ Premier and Pete Rock) is also planned for this year.
