Republic Records has announced that David Nathan, SVP of promotion and artist development, will move up to Big Label Machine Group, where he will service as a high-level executive intermediary between the companies.
“David has been one of the pioneers of Republic since its inception,” says the label’s co-founder and chief executive Monte Lipman. “As the company continues to grow its relationship with Nashville’s #1 hit-making machine, it only makes sense to invest in the future expansion of Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group.
“David has been involved with Taylor Swift’s history-making crossover success from the very beginning as part of the mighty Republic pop promotion department,” adds Republic Records president and CEO Scott Borchetta. “I simply could not pass up the opportunity to acquire 100% of his focus to the artists at the Big Machine Label Group. This is another step in the evolution of our company and we know it’s going to bring mega pop muscle for our initiatives.”
In his new position, which sees him remain in New York, Nathan will continue developing talent and promoting artists across Big Machine Records, Republic Nashville, the Valory Music Co., and Dot Records.
Nathan has been working at Universal since 1996, starting out as national director of pop promotion and graduating to SVP of promotion and artist development in 2012.
