Beyoncé received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard honour at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.
The former Destiny’s Child singer was presented with the VMA’s lifetime achievement award by her husband Jay Z and their daughter Blue Ivy.
“I’m so full. I have nothing to say but I am filled with so much gratitude,” said Beyoncé to close the show.
“Blue, I love you, my beloved I love you. MTV, I love you, my fans I love you. Goodnight.”
Prior to receiving the award, the 32-year-old performed the bulk of her self-titled album in a near 20-minute set. She also collected the prize for Best Collaboration alongside Jay Z for their hit ‘Drunk In Love’.
Previous winners of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award include The Beatles, Madonna and Beastie Boys.
Also on the night, Lorde became the first female artist to scoop the Best Rock Video prize, while Miley Cyrus won the Video of the Year award for ‘Wrecking Ball’. Rather than taking to the stage herself, however, the singer instead asked homeless youth Jesse to accept the award on her behalf.
