Kendrick Lamar Freestyles for Six Minutes on Power 106, Gets Interviewed

After premiering his new single “i” yesterday, Kendrick Lamar made an appearance on Los Angeles’ Power 106 radio station. There, he conducted an interview with the station’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood show, and performed a lengthy freestyle, a little under six minutes, over a variety of beats, including Jay Z’s “Who You Wit” and James Brown’s “The Boss”. Watch videos of both the interview and the freestyle below, via Hot New Hip Hop.

It’s been reported that Kendrick has as many as 30 songs for the follow up to 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, but during the interview, he said he only likes seven of those. He also said that Ronald Isley not only gave his blessing to sample the Isley Brothers’ “That Lady” on “i”, but also recorded ad libs for the song. He also talked about the “Control” verse and his relationships with Drake and J. Cole.
