“I Bet My Life” is from the as-yet untitled sophomore record

Imagine Dragons just dropped “I Bet My Life,” the high-flying lead single from their upcoming album, with promises that they’d reveal new information about the highly anticipated follow-up to their smash debut, Night Visions, soon.

The new track has a slightly folkier vibe than past hits like “Radioactive,” and transitions from somewhat apprehensive verses to loud and celebratory choruses. “This song is about the relationship I’ve had with my parents throughout the years,” singer Dan Reynolds explained. “At times it’s been strained and difficult, but in the end, ‘I Bet My Life’ celebrates the bond that we still hold on to.”

The band’s debut album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, and went on to sell almost four million copies worldwide, despite a little hate from people like Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme.
