Electronic musician, DJ and known vegan Moby has sold off his castle-like compound in the Hollywood Hills for a hefty profit. According to multiple reports, the Play star, whose given name is Richard Melville Hall, purchased the home for $3.9 million in March 2010, and just unloaded it for an impressive $12.4 million.
Located above Beachwood Canyon with soaring views of downtown L.A. and the Hollywood sign, the compound was built in 1927 for influential developer L. Milton Wolf. The property, known as Wolf’s Lair, spans 6,500 square feet of living space with eight bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a guest house, a pool house, a “secret” tunnel and turrets.
If the rumors are to be believed, the buyer this time is graffiti artist Banksy.
Moby, 49, purchased the castle from Mammoth Records founder Jay Faires and spent around $2 million on renovations. House guests over the decades have included the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and Marlon Brando.
The artist has been rattling his real estate portfolio of late, having sold his penthouse in NYC’s Lower East Side for $2 million in May 2014 and another Hollywood Hills home in June 2013 for an undisclosed sum.
