We might be in the midst of a weak TV season right now, but things are looking up.

Rock ‘n roll fans have reason to be excited – HBO have commissioned a new show based around the 1970s New York music scene, and it looks as if they’ve got the right people involved. The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger is producing along with Martin Scorsese, who will also direct the pilot. Scorsese will be reunited with showrunner Terence Winter, who also helmed the acclaimed Boardwalk Empire series for HBO, and the cast is already taking shape.

Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire, Nurse Jackie) will be playing the lead – a record exec of course – while House alum Olivia Wilde will be playing his bohemian model wife. Most interesting is the casting of comic Andrew “Dice” Clay as a cocaine-addled radio station owner – we’re dying to see how that one’s going to play out.
