As previously reported, Taylor Swift‘s “Blank Space” leads the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth week, while Meghan Trainor tallies her second top 10, as “Lips Are Movin” surges 13-8.
Here are five other acts movin’ up the Hot 100 this week:
James Newton Howard, “The Hanging Tree,” featuring Jennifer Lawrence
After debuting on the Hot 100 last week at No. 12, the collab, from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part I, in which Lawrence stars, dips to No. 15, down 15 percent in overall points. After its splashy first sales week, it falls by 16 percent to 168,000 downloads sold in the week ending Dec. 7, according to Nielsen Music. Still, its streaming is up (to 1.2 million U.S. streams) and its new remix spurs its start at radio: it’s bubbling under the Pop Songs airplay chart with 4.1 million in first-week audience.
Ed Sheeran
Sheeran scales the Hot 100 with two songs: “Thinking Out Loud” (39-24), the new radio single from his album x, and “Make It Rain” (No. 34), from the penultimate episode of FX’s Sons of Anarchy. “Loud” adds top Digital Gainer honors, vaulting 34-15 on Digital Songs with a 61 percent increase to 61,000 sold. It also roars by 58 percent in airplay to 19 million and by 26 percent to 4.5 million streams. “Rain” arrives at No. 6 on Digital Songs with 107,000 sold.
Mariah Carey, “All I Want for Christmas Is You”
Carey makes her perennial sleigh ride back to the Hot 100 with her modern-classic carol, a re-entry at No. 50. (Older songs are eligible for the chart if ranking in the top 50 and resurging in multiple metrics.) Since the song was not available as a commercial single upon its original 1994 release, it didn’t then hit the Hot 100, per chart rules at the time. The now-yuletide staple reached its best rank (No. 21) during the 2012-13 holiday season. On the Holiday 100 chart, “Christmas” jingles 3-2; Fifth Harmony’s new cover of it debuts at No. 71 on the seasonal survey.
Lillywood & Robin Schulz, “Prayer in C”
The track launches at No. 87 on the Hot 100 after hitting No. 1 in nearly 20 countries. Airplay is its leading contributor, with the chill club track gaining by 31 percent to 18 million in audience.
Sheppard, “Geronimo”
Like “Prayer in C” (No. 87), Sheppard’s debut hit jumps onto the Hot 100 (No. 90) after scoring significant global success. The Australian pop band is named for members, and siblings, Amy, Emma and George Sheppard.
