Alesso takes another step closer to achieving his first career chart-topper on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, as “Heroes (We Could Be)” hikes 4-3. The track, featuring Tove Lo, is the chart’s top Digital and Streaming Gainer.
“Heroes” sold 30,000 downloads (up 9 percent) in the week ending Dec. 14, according to Nielsen Music, and ranks at No. 3 for a third week on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs. The track also lifts on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (7-6), garnering 2.3 million U.S. streams (with 68 percent from Spotify). “Heroes” also spends a second week at No. 1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay; it ruled Dance Club Songs two weeks ago. On the Billboard Hot 100, it becomes the Swedish DJ’s first top 40 hit, zooming 49-35.
Meanwhile, Mr. Probz spends his fifth week at No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Waves.” The Robin Schulz-remixed track also extends its No. 1 reign to an eighth week on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs, adding another 48,000 digital units to its release-to-date total, now up to 823,000.
Speaking of Schulz, his track with Lillywood, “Prayer in C,” rises 8-7 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs as the top Airplay Gainer (up by 22 percent to 22 million in radio audience).
Calvin Harris, helped by vocals from Ellie Goulding, heaves back into the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10 with “Outside” (11-10). The song gives Harris another week with three simultaneous top 10 tracks, joining former No. 1s “Blame” (2-2) and “Summer” (10-9). He first tripled up the week of Nov. 8, when “Outside” debuted at No. 7 (its peak so far).
‘SPACE’ FLIGHT: Taylor Swift swings her second top 10 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay as “Blank Space” surges 11-9. Previous hit “Shake It Off” became her first, reaching No. 6 on Nov. 8. That track also became her first to hit Dance Club Songs, topping out at No. 17 in the Nov. 1 frame.
Swift scored two prior entries on Dance/Mix Show Airplay: “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (No. 21, 2012) and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” (No. 18, 2013). Swift stands atop the Billboard Artist 100 for a ninth week, fueled in part by “Space,” which leads the Hot 100 for a fifth week.
NABIHA No. 1: Nabiha nabs her first Dance Club Songs No. 1, “Animals” (3-1). It’s easily the biggest U.S. hit for the Danish songstress, who had reached No. 37 with “Never Played the Bass” two years ago. Remixes from Hoxton Whores, Electrick Village and Mike Delinquent, among others, helped “Animals” reach the top.
Concurrently, the track debuts on the recently expanded (from 25 to 40 positions) Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart at No. 33, marking Nabiha’s first foray onto another U.S. Billboard chart.
