The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has been a staple in Cleveland since 1993, however, debate has consistently raged about hip-hop, and it’s place in the Rock Hall instead of it’s own juncture, especially after the induction of the Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and Public Enemy.
Nevertheless, the confusion has spawned positivity, as it has become apparent that plans are developing to give the genre its own commemorating location. The project, according to the New York Daily News, is set to launch in 2015 with two separate developments, one in Harlem and the second in times square, both giving homage to hip-hop and offering the genre’s own Hall of Fame. The museum has already caught the attention of big name artists like Eminem, Outkast, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and more, all offering memorabilia from tours and other avenues to donate to the hall, which will officially open sometime in 2017.
