Be patient, Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans: despite the release of frontwoman Karen O‘s solo album Crush Songs earlier this year, a proper follow-up to 2013’s Mosquito will have to wait for now. In a new interview with NME, Karen O said that the band is “on a bit of a hiatus”, adding that “the time needs to be right” before any new material emerges.
Speaking with NME, Karen O expressed a willingness to wait for inspiration. “We’re on a bit of hiatus at the moment, so nothing yet,” she said. “We have to wait to get the urge, get that itch. The time needs to be right and we’re OK waiting for that, I think.” She added that when the jams resume, “it’ll be like muscle memory, this unspoken thing between the three of us where it all just… locks in.”
