Paramore‘s Hayley Williams and New Found Glory‘s Chad Gilbert have announced their engagement.

Williams shared the news with her Twitter followers, posting a Photoshopped snap of what her and Gilbert might look like on their wedding day with the caption “Hey guess what?”. Gilbert also posted the image to his Instagram page, adding he’d “popped the question on Christmas Day”

Messages of congratulations started flooding as soon as Williams and Gilbert had made the announcement, with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry among those sending their best wishes.

In an interview with Fuse last year, Gilbert discussed New Found Glory’s eighth studio album ‘Resurrection’ and revealed how making music actually strengthened the couple’s partnership. He said: “Personally, Hayley and I, we’d been dating for six years, and we hit a rough patch in our relationship, and it was great, being able to get that out in these songs.

“It made things better for us, you know what I’m saying? There was so much going on at this time that you can dig deep into the record. That’s another thing, what the songs of ‘Resurrection’ are about; looking at the challenges not as negative things but to really take them in a way that tests your value as a person.”

Late last year Williams accused One Direction of copying New Found Glory’s 2006 song ‘It’s Not Your Fault’ with their recent single ‘Steal My Girl’. Writing on her Twitter page, she said: “Beginning of that new 1D song couldn’t sound any more like the beginning of @newfoundglory’s “its not your fault” but I realize that I’m gonna get hate from a very large fanbase for that. But really, it has more to do w/ whoever pitched or cowrote the song.”
