Kings Of Leon will play a festival in support of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this February.

US magazine Sports Illustrated has published an annual Swimsuit Issue every year since 1964 and, as Billboard reports, held a small publicity event in Miami last year to help boost interest. Now, they have launched a much larger event called the Swimville Fan Festival, which will take place in Nashville from February 11 to 12.

TThe bash will mostly be free to the public and will feature local musicians, but Kings Of Leon have also been confirmed to play at the event – although, according to Sports Illustrated publisher Brendan Ripp, their set will cost fans money to attend. Speaking of the inspiration for the festival, he told Adage.com: “We want to be younger, we want to be broader, we want to be bigger. Nashville is helping us check off all those boxes.”

Kings Of Leon released their last studio album, ‘Mechanical Bull’, in September 2013. Last year, drummer Nathan Followill hinted that they had been working on new material and promised that a follow-up LP would be “coming soon”.

The band’s ‘Mechanical Bull’ world tour was disrupted earlier in 2014 when they were forced to cancel a number of live appearances following injuries sustained by Nathan Followill in a bus accident. Followill was hurt when a pedestrian “jumped in front” of their tourbus during their North American tour. He sustained broken ribs during the resulting emergency stop.
