Snoop Dogg is potentially facing a lawsuit over an alleged homophobic post he published on Instagram, according to reports.

The rapper posted a photo of carer Cortez Booze online with the caption “Whose auntcle is this?”. His photo prompted a bevy of transphobic and homophobic comments from other Instagram users including, according to the Independent, insults such as “That shemale ain’t gone win. U get wat u get if u choose to dress how u dress. Consequences for your choices so use some common sense.”

TMZ now says that Booze contacted Instagram and asked them to remove the post, but it remained on Snoop Dogg’s account. Although it has now been taken down, Booze has reportedly consulted lawyers and is planning to file a lawsuit against the hip-hop artist.

Snoop Dogg faced a similar backlash in September last year. An image lifted from another user’s Instagram account appeared on his own account which showed two men hugging and was accompanied by a homophobic caption.

“U n ya boyfriend since u like Jumpn on my page disrespectn b**** boy go suck ya man n get off my line f**,” the post, which was apparently deleted half an hour later, allegedly read. It is unclear if the rapper posted the image himself, or if he was hacked.

Speaking in 2013 about his attitudes towards homosexuality, Snoop Dogg said: “I don’t have a problem with gay people. I got some gay homies. Yeah, for real. People who were gay used to get beat up. It was cool to beat up on gay people back then. But in the ’90s and 2000s, gay is a way of life. Just regular people with jobs. Now they are accepted, not classified. They just went through the same things we went through as black.”

Earlier this week (January 8), Snoop revealed that he will release a new album, ‘Bush’, in March. The LP will be produced by Pharrell Williams and will also feature contributions from Stevie Wonder and Charlie Wilson, who collaborated with Kanye West on ‘Yeezus’.
