Sam Bailey dropped by Syco just 14 months after 'X Factor' win

Sam Bailey has been dropped by her record label just 14 months after winning The X Factor.

As is the case with all of the victors, Bailey signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco label after beating out Nicholas McDonald and Luke to win the show’s tenth series in December 2013. She subsequently went on to claim the Christmas Number One spot with a cover of Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’.

Having released just the one album on Syco – last year’s almost entirely covers LP ‘The Power of Love’ – Bailey and Cowell have now parted company, with a label source telling The Daily Mail: “Everyone wishes Sam all the best for the future. After discussion, it was just felt it was the right time to follow different paths.”

Cowell himself did not feature as a judge on the tenth season of The X Factor, which saw a record low number of people tune in to watch the final. Cowell did return last year, however, to join Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh. The series was eventually won by Ben Haenow.
