Kasabian have branded One Direction “five no-ones who won the lottery”.
Speaking to The Sun, Tom Meighan said of the boy band: “They’re fucking millionaires but they’re five no-ones who won the lottery. They’re massive, but they’re a product, we’re not. They’re like shampoo. You buy it to put in your hair and wash it out, like the Spice Girls.”
Kasabian won Best British Band supported by Marshall and Best Album at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas last night (February 18). The Leicester band scored the two prestigious gongs at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. They were presented with the award for Best Album – for 2014’s ’48:13′ – by Kevin Rowland of Dexys.
Kasabian were also named Best British Band supported by Marshall, presented by magician Dynamo. Earlier in the evening Foo Fighters confirmed a headline slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in their acceptance speech for Best International Band supported by Austin, Texas – The Live Music Capital Of The World® at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas.
