Lil Durk

The manager of Lil Durk, a rapper signed to Def Jam Recordings, was shot and killed outside of a Chicago restaurant early Friday morning (March 27), Billboard has confirmed.

Uchenna Agina, who went by “Chino,” was sitting in a parked car in front of the Stony Sub restaurant when a gunman approached the vehicle and fired, hitting the 24-year-old manager several times, including once in the head, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Billboard received confirmation from a Chicago Police Department spokesperson that a 24-year-old victim was shot outside the Stony Sub at approximately 1:50 a.m. on March 27. He was transported by a friend to Advocate Trinity Hospital and was later pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing and no one is in custody.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of this tragedy,” a Def Jam spokesperson wrote in a statement to Billboard. “The Def Jam family shares our most heartfelt sympathy, condolences and prayers with the family and loved ones of Uchenna Agina.”

Hours before he was killed, Agina posted a Lil Durk remix of Chief Keef’s “Faneto” on social media, the Tribune reports. The track references various Chicago gangs the Black Disciples and Mickey Cobras.

Agina and Lil Durk both have arrest records for weapons violations, according to the Tribune. Agina was reportedly convicted of misdemeanor possession of a firearm in 2010 and Durk is currently battling a felony gun case
