Looking for a fan who knew all the words to the song, the rapper finally settled on Ayanna after a first failed attempt with a man named Jonathan.
According to Pitchfork, Jonathan is actually the CEO and co-founder of Sweetgreen, the company behind not just the festival, but the Lamar-themed salad Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe – a dish which has been sold at the US salad chain’s stores throughout the month ahead of Lamar’s performance.
The salad, which contains beetroot and kale, takes its named from the title of Kendrick’s track ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe’. Sweetgreen has been selling t-shirts featuring the phrase since 2013.
The Compton artist has been busy this week filming a stunt-heavy new video for his track ‘Alright’ in Los Angeles. He was captured by fans during the making of the new video on Friday (May 29), with one clip showing him performing the track suspended from a traffic light.
On Wednesday (May 27) Lamar appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform ‘These Walls’. He also recently turned up in Taylor Swift’s star-studded video for ‘Bad Blood’, delivering a guest verse on the track. [NME]
