The Weeknd‘s forthcoming album will apparently feature a collaboration with Kanye West, Ed Sheeran has revealed.

Sheeran let slip that the singer-songwriter – real name Abel Tesfaye – has teamed up with West when he discussed his own collaboration with the ‘Earned It’ artist. Expressing his disbelief that The Weeknd would want to work with him, Sheeran said during an interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show: “In my head I’m like, ‘The Weeknd doesn’t want to write a song!’ The Weeknd doesn’t work with anyone. He’s got one feature on his album, which is Kanye West. He doesn’t want to do that.”

Sheeran went on to say that the track he crafted with The Weeknd, which will presumably not feature on the latter’s forthcoming album, is “is really, really fucking good”.

The Weeknd recently released a new song called ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, a collaboration with legendary pop songwriter Max Martin, who has previously worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. It has since peaked at Number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart – The Weeknd’s third Top 10 hit there following ‘Earned It’ and Ariana Grande collaboration ‘Love Me Harder’.

He is expected to release a new album, his follow-up to 2013’s ‘Kiss Land’, later this summer, though the LP’s title and release date have yet to be confirmed. It was recently reported that the album will be coming out on August 28, but The Weeknd then took to Twitter to insist that “information about my album date is false”. [NME]
