5 Seconds of Summer, “She’s Kinda Hot”
5 Seconds of Summer heat up the season with their new single “She’s Kinda Hot,” which debuts at No. 22 as the chart’s highest new entry. The track opens at a career-best rank on Digital Songs (No. 3) with 124,000 first-week downloads sold (in the week ending July 23, according to Nielsen Music) and debuts at No. 41 on Streaming Songs with 3.5 million plays. “Hot” is also blazing a path at radio as well as it jumps 39-24 on Mainstream Top 40, the band’s quickest ascent into the top 25 of that chart thus far.
Demi Lovato, “Cool For the Summer”
As “Cool For the Summer” rises 31-24, it becomes the pop singer’s highest charting hit since “Heart Attack” peaked at No. 10 in April 2013. After “Heart Attack,” she claimed entries with “Really Don’t Care” (No. 26), “Made In the USA” (No. 80), “Let It Go” (No. 38) and “Neon Lights” (No. 36).
Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias, “El Perdon”
As the song rises 76-70 (it’s never gone higher than No. 66 in its 18 chart weeks), it also spends a 21st week at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs. Thus, Iglesias has occupied the No. 1 spot on the Latin Songs chart for 63 of the past 79 weeks, including “El Perdedor” (1 week) and “Bailando” (41 weeks).
X Ambassadors, “Renegades”
With an eight-spot jump, “Renegades” logs the second-largest rise on the chart this week (58-50) and achieves a new peak. The song is in its 15th week on the list. Its Hot 100 rise is concurrent with its 22-20 climb on Adult Pop Songs (known as Adult Top 40 on billboard.biz). The cut also spends a seventh consecutive week on the Alternative Songs chart.
R. City featuring Adam Levine, “Locked Away”
The songwriting/production duo of R. City (brothers Theron and Timothy Thomas) arrive at No. 85 with their debut Hot 100 hit, “Locked Away,” featuring Maroon 5’sAdam Levine. The cut previews R. City’s Kemosabe/RCA EP due later this year. The pair of written such Hot 100-charting singles as Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” (which peaked at No. 2), Becky G’s “Shower” (No. 16), Rihanna’s “Pour It Up” (No. 19) and Ciara’s “The Night Is Still Young” (No. 31).
