Legendary music producer Rick Rubin will be honored by the Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing during next year’s Grammy Week celebration. The annual event, which recognizes behind-the-scenes wizards like Rubin and past recipients including T Bone Burnett, Jimmy Iovine and Quincy Jones, is set for Thursday, Feb. 11 at The Village studios in West Los Angeles.
Attendees will hear about the eight-time Grammy winner’s many accomplishments at the soundboard, which includes two producer of the year awards, another two for album of the year (Adele‘s 21 and Dixie Chicks‘ Take the Long Way) as well as his genre-spanning work with the Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Jay Z and, of course, the late Johnny Cash.
“Rick Rubin has said he has one rule regarding his recording process, ‘The only rule is that it’s not done until it’s great,'” said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of The Recording Academy. “His contributions to music and to the artists he’s worked with prove that Rick is beyond simply great. He is remarkable. We look forward to celebrating this musical icon and his pioneering career, which continues to inspire and climb to new heights.”
