Chuck Mitchell has been named SVP for Sony Masterworks U.S., leading the team in N.Y. and reporting to Bogdan Roscic, President of SME’s worldwide Classical division. The 30-year industry vet previously served as President of the legendary Verve label, where he oversaw recording projects featuring Stevie WonderStingChaka Khan, Elvis CostelloPat MethenyBill FrisellGeorge MichaelDon Was and David Byrne. His most recent post was overseeing A&R and marketing for eOne Music, with a roster that included Cassandra WilsonBela Fleck, Jerry DouglasJimmy Webb, Earl Klugh, Steve Tyrelland The Bad Plus. Also produced under his supervision was the final recording by R&B legend Solomon Burke. Said Roscic: “Masterworks U.S. is an important source of music from many different genres for Sony Classical’s worldwide business.
