AEG has signed with Ebay which in-turn provides access to it’s subsidiary, StubHub. StubHub will now act as the exclusive secondary ticket marketplace for AEG’s venues and AXS ticketing platform. Beginning at the top of the year, StubHub will act as the secondary ticket marketplace for venues such as the Staples Center, The Spirit Center, BBVA Compass Stadium, The Warfield, Nokia Theatre LA Live, Best Buy Theatre, and many more venues across the world.
StubHub will use a barcode system to facilitate secondary market ticket transactions, allowing them to cancel and reissue tickets to new buyers. AEG’s president of ticketing and digital services Bryan Perez assured the Wall Street Journal that sourcing from tickets, whether secondary or primary market would be clearly indicated to customers. Perez also said it remained to be determined if revenue from secondary market sales would be considered part of a concert’s gross.
