U.K. outlet Sky News is reporting that Simon Fuller is working with Island founder Chris Blackwell on a bid for Parlophone, possibly to be capitalized by RIT Capital Partners, the £2 billion+ investment trust overseen by Lord Rothschild. Talks between RIT and Fuller’s XIX Entertainment (which alludes, with Roman numerals, to former Fuller entity 19) are said to be embryonic and may well not result in a deal. The story also asserts “stiff competition” and “more than 90 expressions of interest”– mentioning WMG and BMG Publishing in particular–for Parlophone and/or other on-the-block EMI assets. Meanwhile, more than 900 expressions of interest have been received in our next issue being our last. [HitsDailyDouble]
