Immediately after the passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch, the remaining members of the Beastie Boys were sued by Tuf America, who claimed the Beasties used Trouble Funk songs in a number of their recordings. Now, a lawyer for the Beastie Boys has requested the lawsuit essentially be thrown out for lack of substantial evidence. In the case that a judge determines there is reason to go forward with the lawsuit, the Beastie’s attorney has requested the damage be limited due to 20 years between the recordings and the current lawsuit.
