As one of the most promising emcees that has come out of Los Angeles in recent years, ScHoolboy Q has already left a mark within the always creative landscape of West Coast hip-hop. His excellent sophomore album Habits and Contradictions offers a diverse catalog of plush, inviting, high-quality production coupled with enjoyable and lyrically demanding weed-clouded rap. We sat down with the Los Angeles native at the Universal Music Group offices in New York and conversed with him about the formation of Black Hippie, the rhymesaying collective that encompasses himself, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar, as well as his celebrated collaboration with A$AP Rocky. –Hypetrak
