Taylor Swift has set the record for the biggest digital sales week for a female artists with single We Are Never Getting Back Together.

Having shifted 623,000 digital copies last week – debuting at No.1 on Billboard‘s Digital Songs chart – it’s also the second biggest digital seller of all time, bested only by Flo Rida’s Right Round, which sold 636,000 in February 2009.

Music Ally points to the power of Taylor Swift’s official app after Mobile Roadie CEO Michael Schneider told the website that the singer “sent a push notification to over 1m fans to encourage them to buy” the new single.

In the UK, all-time digital album sales topped the 100 million milestone at the beginning of August, according to Official Charts Company data published by the BPI.
