The New York Post reports that former MTV Network CEO, Judy McGrath has joined Sony Music to form an “entertainment production division” within Sony Music itself.

Now with Sony, it is reported that McGrath is once again trying to grab the attention of today’s young people by playing into their demand for digital content.  Her newest project with Sony is going to be named Astronauts Wanted: No Experience Necessary, “and will target TV, the Internet and mobile devices and go beyond the music on Sony’s rosters.”

It can be said that Judy McGrath was the driving force behind MTV causing it to become the cultural staple of youth.  McGrath was also responsible for MTV’s movement from music to reality TV with the long time running, “Real World” and most recently, “Jersey Shore”.  McGrath left MTV in May of 2011.  Let’s see what she achieves with Sony.
